Bratislava Travel Information
How to get to Bratislava?
By plane:
There are two ways to reach Bratislava by air. Most international flights arrive and depart at Vienna International Airport (Schwechat). In addition, some European cities have direct connections to Bratislava's M. R. Štefánik Airport.
How to get from Vienna International Airport (Schwechat ) to Bratislava
Once you arrive at Vienna International Airport, you will need to take a bus to Bratislava. Exit theairport terminal to the outside area, the bus stops are located tothe right of the main entrance, approximately 20 meters away (see the map).
The journey to Bratislava Central Bus Station takes about55 minutes. In Bratislava, the bus stops at three locations—make sure not to get off at the first stop. If you get off at the second stop, called Most SNP, you will be in the historic part of the city. From there, it is a 5–10-minute walk to the main building of Comenius University. You may also stay on the bus until the final stop at the Central Bus Station (Mlynské Nivy).
It is recommended to search for and buy a ticket in advance. You can do this on the following website:
https://cp.sk/en/bus/spojenie/?f=Wien%20Airport;%20Austria&fc=100003&changeTT=true&x=1736345439893
You can select the English language. First, click on Timetable Selection and choose “Buses”. Enter “Wien,,Flughafen Wien; Austria” in the From field and “Bratislava, AS” in the TO field, then find the option that suits you best.
Although it is usually possible to buy tickets directly from the driver, it is always best to buy them in advance and download them to your phone to avoid stress.
If you buy your ticket online, it is best to do so after you land, so you do not lose money in case your flight is delayed, as tickets are valid only for a specific bus. Prices are usually around 10–15 euros, depending on the departure time and the company operating the route. If your plane lands much earlier, you will need to wait for your scheduled connection.
