Tirana city center walking tour, Saturday, April 27, 2024
The Tirana walking tour starts at 3 pm and ends at 6 pm.
We move from the conference venue to the city center, where we will visit Ethem Bey Mosque, an Orthodox Cathedral, and a Catholic Cathedral. All places are close to each other, around 10-15 minutes walking distance. A very interesting spot we will visit is the BunkArt museum, a communist regime bunker now serving as a museum.
After the museum visit, we will stroll in one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Tirana (Toptani zone) and have some drinks/coffee/tea at the old castle of Tirana.
Afterwards, everyone is invited to stay longer and enjoy the evening in the city center.
Sunday field trip to Berat city, Sunday, April 28, 2024
The coach departs at 8:30 am (we will meet at the university premises). The predicted arrival time in Berat is 10:15 am. We will explore some of Berat's UNESCO-recognised old neighborhoods . We will visit Berat Castle (it is continuously inhabited). After the castle tour, we can enjoy the wonderful view of the city from the top and take some pictures. Afterwards, we will stroll through the city, visiting nearby religious sites such as a 400-year-old mosque and the Holy Trinity Church, built sometime during the 13th and 14th centuries. We will have free time and lunch from 1:00 pm to 3 pm, and we will depart for Tirana at 3 pm. We will arrive at the hotel around 5:00 pm.
